They say the eating vegetables and fruits is good for you. But because of some practices used by commercial farmers, eating your leafy greeens could do you more harm than good. There are some plants that have been genetically modified to reduce pests and make them bear more fruit. Genetic modification is also used to prolong shelf life, or to come up with a more flavorful variant of a plant product.

Other crops are sprayed with harmful chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers. These eventually find their way into the dishes that you prepare in your kitchen. Another option is to choose organic products such as organic rice, hydroponically-grown tomatoes, or organic green coffee beans. This is to ensure that you get all the health benefits from your food, and not harmful effects from commercial chemicals.
