Some people need a good strong cup of coffee in the morning to start their day. And they particularly look for a French roast coffee that is very bold and smoky. Just the aroma of a freshly brewed pot of French roast coffee can really wake you up.
The coffee beans need to go through the 2nd pop to achieve it’s smoky and bold flavor. The coffee beans’ surface becomes very oily because of the longer roasting time. They are usually roasted at temperatures ranging from 370°F to 540°F for about 11-13 minutes. The beans go through a machine called a “destoner” to remove stones and other particles after roasting. Then they are stabilized, dried and packed. They are available in whole beans or ground already if you don’t have your own coffee grinder.
