The holidays are almost upon us. Here is a delicious recipe for California fruitcake:

1. Grease and line loaf pans. Put a pan of hot water in the bottom of your oven. 2. Sift together flour, spices and salt onto waxed paper. 3. Combine fruit and nuts in mixing bowl. Measure one cup of flour mixture and blend well. 4. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks, beat until smooth and creamy. Blend remaining flour mixture with sherry and fruit juice. Blend in orange rinds.5. Fold beaten egg whites into cake mixture, pour into prepared loaf pans and bake for 3 hours at 250 degrees F. Cool and store several weeks before serving.
