We have always known that cooking diminishes the value of food. What not everyone know is that cooking not only makes nutrients disappear. They are actually changed chemically and there is the problem. These chemicals create many of the carcinogens, mutagens and free radicals and toxins that are associated with serious diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and cancer. This is the reason why raw foods is being recommended to be a major part of our diet.
Adherents to this principle call it raw foodism. It promotes a lifestyle that encourages consumption of uncooked and unprocessed foods. When 75-100% of total food consumption is raw food, the body’s own elimination system can get rid of all or most of the toxins in the cooked portion of the diet. When you eat more cooked food you are eating toxins faster than your body can get rid of them so they back up causing disease. A raw food diet may include vegetables, nuts, whole grains, eggs, fish and meat.
