Food Tripping, Pennsylvania Dutch Style

I have always been intrigued with Pennsylvania Dutch foods. Ever since I saw a show on the television about it, it has been a dream to actually taste an authentic cuisine. I decided to meet up with a friend who knew places and hot spots in the metro. He took me to a place that has very minimal ambiance but, according to my friend, had the best Pennsylvania Dutch food money can buy.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that some of the things I usually eat originated from this cuisine. Root beer and coleslaw are two of my favorite side dishes. Some of the weirder sounding stuff like Hogmaw and Bova Shankel piqued my interest, so we ordered those too. In other words, food tripping with Pennsylvania Dutch food is a bit heavy on the stomach, but the taste is very, very good.
