health hazards of genetically modified foods

Genetic modification of foods is done primarily to make the food stay fresh for a longer period of time. There are a number of benefits to justify this process. However, studies have shown that there are health hazards of genetically modified foods. People should be aware enough so as to avoid eating these types of food. The growing concerns of the masses on genetically modified foods are divided into three categories: environmental hazards, human health risks and economic concerns.
There are quite a number of health hazards of genetically modified foods and below are few of them:~They could generate cancer and other degenerative diseases.~ They could cause viral and bacterial illnesses.~ They were known to produce allergens that could increase food allergies.~ They could result to birth defects and shorter life spans.~ They have interior toxins that could be harmful to human beings.~ They contain lower level of vital nutrients thus cannot protect people from heart disease and cancer.
