The term “organic” is traditionally used for agricultural products that were grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Today, however, it is also used on products from the fishing industry. Organic seafood is farm-raised. This ensures that the fish is fed only organic vegetation. Water in fish farms is also filtered to remove or prevent toxins. Furthermore, chemicals are never used.
Consumers can benefit from organic seafood which: ~ has a better taste and texture ~ has a low level of mercury ~ discourages destructive fishing methods ~ provides a solution to problems of overfishing
