Surprise your kids with a tropical treat when they get home from school. Serve them a batch of Hawaiian Chocolate cookies. You are sure to earn kisses and hugs of approval later. This recipe is very easy to do:

~Sift together 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger powder, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
~Cream together 2/3 cup of vegetable shortening, 1 cup of white sugar, 1 egg and 1/3 cup of molasses
~Blend in dry ingredients with the cream then chill for half an hour in the fridge
~Roll the dough into balls and dip the tops into sugar. Place them on an ungreased cookie sheet and cook in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 15 minutes
