flavored licorice

I migrated to the United States when I was 9 years old. Prior to that, most of what I know about the United States came from the show Sesame Street. I would watch it every day. Some of the stuff in the show I didn’t understand. Like there was a scene wherein Grover was begging a kid to give him a flavored licorice. I didn’t know what licorice was, let alone flavored licorice.

When we arrived in United States, the first thing I did was look for licorice. When I found it in the grocery, I was amazed with the different flavored licorice. All I’ve seen in Sesame Street was the red one and the black one. It was the first time I’ve seen blue, green and yellow licorice. Of course the best part of it is that I was able to taste all of them. I was in heaven!
